Best Times to Visit Tulum

October 24, 2022 · In: Go Tulum Travel, Travel Tips

DJ on Tulum Beach

Tulum is a year-round destination, but many travelers prefer to avoid the hurricane season. The best time to visit is between November and late March, when the weather is warm and dry. However, if you want to avoid crowds and high hotel prices, steer clear of January to March, as these months attract the most visitors. To minimize the chance of rain, it’s best to avoid June, September, and October, which typically experience the heaviest rainfall.

Here is a breakdown:

January-March
Not too many hotel deals or activities availability due to the high season. Temperatures are usually quite nice, high 70s and high 80s, and there’s always that slight chance of rain, but rarely. The ruins and public cenotes will be packed.
April – JuneIn late spring, accommodation rates may drop, but the temperatures will get hot. Keep in mind, hurricane season starts in June; try to plan your trip for early spring to avoid the start of the heavy rains or downpours.
July-OctoberFrom mid-summer to early Autumn, Tulum is in hurricane season and the accommodations offer the best deals of the year. However, with these unbelievable rates, there is a risk of bad storms and rain fall. Even if there isn’t a hurricane, you can count on several rainy days (September and October see some of the highest amounts of rainfall) and super hot temps (highs in the 90s).
November-DecemberThis is the “sweet spot”, as the temperatures fall to the low 80s and the hurricane season slides away. By early winter, many tourists will arrive and rates will surely double during the holidays (Dec 24-Jan 1).
